As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, Roberts Park is following guidelines for social distancing and have made the following arrangements for our worship services:
Sunday worship service is available on Facebook and Youtube each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. On the first Sunday of the month, in addition to the online service, we offer “drive-thru” communion in our east parking lot.
The 20 Minutes for God Wednesday service is also available on Facebook and Youtube at 12:00 noon.
We will resume services in our sanctuary when these gatherings are considered safe – see the description below.
Our Sunday morning worship services are central to all that we do as a community of faith. We offer a service at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel. The format is an abbreviated version of our main service with the sacrament of Holy Communion offered every Sunday. Our main service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the beautiful, historic sanctuary located on the second floor (accessible by elevator.) The format is traditional in style, complimented by more modern elements and creative expressions. The service begins with the warm hospitality of sharing the peace and concludes as members hold hands with one another and sing a blessing of peace. Each Sunday one of our pastors delivers a thoughtful sermon that applies the scriptures to our daily living in a way that both challenges and inspires. You may also like to listen to one of our sermons online.
During the 10:30 worship service, a staff member from Shalom Daycare is available, if parents wish, to care for children under 3 years old. Children ages 3 to 8 are invited to participate in Children Worship and Wonder, which is held during the service in the Wesley Room adjacent to the sanctuary. Children 8 and older are invited to remain in the sanctuary for the service. Children’s service bulletins and crayons are available.
Music and the Word
Roberts Park Church has a very long history of excellent music and inspiring preaching. Each Sunday our dedicated and talented choir and soloists shares their musical gifts throughout the service. Our bell choir participates in worship on special occasions. Hymns and choral selections are accompanied by the uplifting sounds of our pipe organ, with occasional guest instrumental soloists. Communion and Special Services
On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion at the 10:30 a.m. service. We celebrate the idea that everyone is welcome at God’s table, and all are invited to participate. Throughout the year, special services are held in the sanctuary, including Blue Christmas (for those experiencing a loss), Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. We also join with other downtown churches to provide services for special occasions, such as an outdoor sunrise service on Easter morning.
One of the strengths of our congregation is its diversity and readiness to welcome all people. We would love to see you at Roberts Park!
